#WGG A NEW YEAR

I took my first foray into consistent gambling in 2018. Before then, all I ever bet was a game here or there for small amounts of money. Once my Super Bowl gambling article took off on social media, I decided to make a weekly gambling article titled The Weekend Gambling Guide. #WGG took over Twitter. My friends Jon and Ted joined me along the way.

We had bad losses and incredible hits. But in the end, even though I didn’t achieve my goal, I still had a fun and profitable year. Hell, I didn’t even have a goal at the beginning of the year. I just set a goal on the fly based on previous results. So I can’t really complain.

I didn’t keep up with Jon and Ted’s weekly results last year. It’s hard enough to keep track of all my bets. Hopefully this year we can keep an accurate track of their wins and profits.

If you are new to TFSS or #WGG, here are some gambling highlights for me last year:

THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

$50 BET: PGA CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER

BROOKS KOEPKA +2000 $1000

$50 BET: Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka vs The Field.

THOMAS AND KOEPKA +800 $400

$25 BET: TOP TEN FINISH

BROOKS KOEPKA +220 $55

God I wish I would’ve bet my usual $100 but I’m not a golf expert so I bet less….

2018 FIFA WORLD CUP

FIFA WORLD CUP FUTURES

2018 World Cup Outright Winner: FRANCE +700 $700

I bet on France from the beginning. I also bet on France for every game throughout the tournament that fell on the weekend. The only game France did not win was a draw that fell on a Tuesday. This was a total profit of roughly $1,000

NBA ALL STAR WEEKEND

NBA All Star Three Point Contest Winner Devin Booker +550

Not only did Booker win, he set a contest record for made threes.

I had my fair share of losers as well. I picked Jordan Spieth to win the US Open. He failed to make the cut. Just last week I picked Purdue +3.0 against Auburn in The Music City Bowl. Auburn was up 56-7 at halftime. And I had the bad beat that I will never get over. Seton Hall vs Kansas in the NCAA Tournament.

I ended up having exactly 300 valid bets. That was not intentional, just coincidence to land on a clean number of bets. Out of those 300, only 51% were winners. A professional gambler can make a living at 55% winners. I’m not ready to be a pro, but I can make a few extra bucks for sure.

I had a goal of a $3,000 profit for the year. I got as high as $2,986 at the end of November. December killed me and I fell below $2,000 for the year. I’ll shoot for the same $3,000 goal in 2019. All it takes is the right bet at the right time to make all the difference.

Now that we have closed the book on 2018, let’s start 2019 off right! Just me this week. I’m sure Jon and Ted will join me in the coming weeks.

FIVE STAR SHOWTIME

Last Week Profit/Loss: Lost $370

Last Year Record: 153-143-4-2 (Win-Loss-Push-Void) or 51% Winners

As always, all odds come courtesy of Bovada. All bets are $100. All profits based off the amount bet. All odds as of Wednesday 1/2/19. My picks are in BOLD.

I’m starting this year with a $1,000 bank. I’ll put the remaining winnings from last year in the kid’s college fund.
